Hello & Welcome to my site

All About ME!

About Nicola Jones

Hello, I’m Nicola Jones — a multimedia artist, storyteller, and creative entrepreneur, building vibrant worlds drawn from life, experience, and imagination.

My journey began in Glasgow, where I studied BSc Multimedia at the College of Building and Printing and later Caledonian University. During that time, I became deeply involved in community and student leadership, serving as student president and learning first-hand how creativity, collaboration, and structure can work together.

In 2000, I moved to the Isle of Bute, which I now call home. The island’s pace, landscape, and sense of community reshaped how I work. I draw inspiration from both urban environments and the quiet beauty of nature, blending digital art, photography, storytelling, and hands-on creative projects. Much of my work is rooted in place, people, and process — telling stories that feel personal, playful, and meaningful.

Alongside my creative practice, I spent ten years teaching creativity, multimedia, and arts at Argyll College on Bute, where I worked on innovative learning approaches that supported confidence, inclusion, and creative thinking. During this time, we received a national teaching award for innovation for our creative film work with Crew Phoenix, supporting assisted-learning adults through arts-based projects.

Over the years, I’ve founded and developed several creative brands, including The Highland Dancer® and Happy Tartan®, alongside extensive community and cultural work. My projects often sit at the intersection of art, storytelling, heritage, and social impact — always with a focus on connection, creativity, and building things with care.

I continue to work across art, publishing, fashion, education, and community development, developing ideas slowly and thoughtfully — allowing stories, characters, and brands to grow organically.

Thank you for visiting my website — welcome to my world.
